Living Life Recovery

Where is God in your life?

I want to tell you briefly about a friend of mine, who is now in Heaven and making God laugh. A funny bloke from Glasgow. His name is Peter. He took me under his wing early in my recovery and taught me what it meant to ‘follow Jesus’. He had a knack in conversation of always asking the question of people “where is God in your life”

The reason I am asking the question today is this: I work with people in crisis. The day centre attached to my work has a number of new individuals passing through it at the moment. People who are not our regulars. And, as I do when something changes in my life I asked God why? and He replied “you prayed for them” At that moment I realised where God is in my life. He’s in the middle of it, a daily source of communication and guidance, who listens to me and remembers what I ask Him in prayer (even when I forget)

Many times in my Christian walk I have asked God for things and forgot them. Only to be surprised when He acts on them.

Today I want to close with the questions: Where is God in your life? And “If He is not a daily companion, why not?”

Matthew 5:34- 36 You only make things worse when you lay down a smoke screen of pious talk, saying,’I’ll pray for you,’and never doing it, or saying,’God be with you,’and not meaning it. You don’t make your words true by embellishing them with religious lace. In making your speech sound more religious, it becomes less true.
