In the preamble of Alcoholics Anonymous it says: our stories disclose what we used to be like, what happened and what we are like now. Living in the present can cloud our past and make us consider “it wasn’t all that bad”.
Our past is full of valuable life lessons that we need to remember. Today’s pressures can make them easy to forget. In 1 Corinthians 10:11 Paul cautions us to remember the lessons the Israelites learned about God, so we can avoid repeating their errors.
The key to remembering is through continued daily inventory and correction of our mistakes as they occur.
To err is human, to keep repeating the same mistake insanity.
