What a priviledge it was this morning, and that is how it felt. Lucky to be in the presence of God and witnessing the baptism of a fellow believer. Lacking confidence in public speaking he chose to sing his testimony. What a great witness of him knowing what was right but not being able to always do it. Yet God out of love accepted him and guided him. One promise he made to Jesus ‘to be forever Yours’. A promise we all need to make daily. To be and to do all we can to experience and share the love of God.
The message that followed was on ‘being a disciple’
Luke 14:25-28 A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.
28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?
Jesus touched lepers and so should we. Are there any lepers in your life? How do you treat them.
Mark 1:40 – 42
Jesus befriended prostitutes and so should we. Because the world doesn’t accept someone’s alternate lifestyle is no reason to exclude them from the family of God.
Jesus offended the Pharisees and so should we. Religious rules are well and good in their rightful place. But we must not let religious rules prevent us from living and loving like Jesus.
