Matthew 18:15-19 “If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him–work it out between the two of you. If he listens, you’ve made a friend. If he won’t listen, take one or two others along so that the presence of witnesses will keep things honest, and try again. If he still won’t listen, tell the church. If he won’t listen to the church, you’ll have to start over from scratch, confront him with the need for repentance, and offer again God’s forgiving love.” Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action.
Day: 22 August 2011
Acts 2:38 Peter replied, Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Many people attempt to speak to God about a variety of issues in their lives seeking divine intervention without personal repentance.
As long as that state exists our prayers are wasted because we’re speaking a language that God cannot hear in the context of our present living arrangement. We must go before God in a spirit of repentance knowing that only then can we expect for Him to hear us.
Until we repent it’s even difficult to find God let alone communicate with him.
Isaiah 55:6-7 puts it this way:
Seek the Lord while you can find him.Call on him now while he is near. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong.Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.
Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
1 Corinthians 16:4 If it seems appropriate for me to go along, they can travel with me.
The good attitudes and behaviours shown by others should affect us. And our good behaviour should affect others.
Thank you Major Brendan Nottle.
Today in a staff meeting Brendan encouraged the staff not just to do things for people but to do things with them.
Thinking about it. We all have a desire to help others but it is generally a desire to do our bit and move them on.
Today I want to challenge Christians and Churches everywhere to find the marginalized in your neighbourhood and do something with them, not just for them.
Ponder the path your life is now travelling. What things are you doing you shouldn’t be? What things are you saying that are untrue? What is your life focused on? Are you following the path God has determined or the one you want to.
The world we live in is full of lost and hurting people. What are you doing to lighten their load?
Proverbs 4:23-26 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.
Proverbs 22:24-25 Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.
A bad attitude towards life and people is contagious. The Bible tells us not to associate with hot-tempered people because they will make us angry.
It’s easy to use anger as an excuse to avoid getting involved. As Christians we are called to help the helpless. Sometimes they are the angry ones.

We welcome anyone who has a sincere desire to change their lives. To rise above the pain and turmoil caused by dependencies and compulsive behaviors their own lives or the lives of a loved one or friend.
Responsible Trust in God requires seeking His will and His power to carry it out. This episode is also available as a blog post: https://livingliferecovery.com/2022/05/28/2022-day-148-discussion-starter/
