So hold on through your sufferings, because they are like a father’s discipline. God is treating you as children. All children are disciplined by their fathers. Hebrews 12:7
Who loves their children more? The parents who allow their children to do whatever they want, even though it can harm them. Or the parents who correct, train and yes punish their children to help them learn what is right? When God corrects you see it as proof of His love for you and ask Him what He is trying to teach you.
The way we accept God’s discipline determines how much we will benefit from it. When we are disciplined we can accept it without questioning it. We can accept it with self-pity feeling we didn’t really deserve it. We can accept it with anger and resentment or we can accept it gratefully and learn from it, the appropriate response toward a loving Heavenly Father.
God pushes us beyond our comfort zones and requires we live lives of discipline. Although we may not feel strong enough to achieve victory in the tasks he presents us we can be assured He will supply all we require to overcome every trying situation.
Those who refuse correction hate themselves, but those who accept correction gain understanding Proverbs 15:32
