when we rescue others from their problems we can cause them to become reliant on us to rescue them again and again. This can cause them to fail to take responsibility for their issues and bad behaviour. We need to avoid the pattern of helping others to satisfy our own need to be needed.
It can be painful to say no to others in need but sometimes the best way to help them is to allow them to work through their problems on their own. This can also bring them to the realisation of their need for recovery and for God.
Next time you are requested to help another ask yourself “I am doing this for them of for me?”
Proverbs 19:19 A hot-tempered person must pay the penalty; rescue them, and you will have to do it again.
