1 Peter 2:19-21 It is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
We are called to identify with Christ. To endure hardship, suffering and trial. “My grace is sufficient for you” is God’s answer to feelings that might cause us to feel unable to cope with what lies ahead.
During my early recovery I had the support and assistance of a very dear friend, who has now gone to glory. Who when you asked him how he was doing would answer “I’m coping, sometimes I cope well and sometimes I don’t cope so well but with God’s help I always cope’.
Trust in God, nestle in His arms and rest in His will. He will never fail you, whatever suffering you encounter in the future. “Let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him” (1 Peter 4:10)
