Listening allows us to learn from God and others.
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:19, 20
When we talk too much and listen too little, we communicate what we think is much more important than what others think.
In the verses above James suggest reversal of the process. Pay attention to what you say to God and to others, and monitor how much you talk.
When you talk to God, and to others do they get ample time to share their views, ideas and have them valued?
