John 8:32 “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Living in denial is living dishonestly. How often do we lie to ourselves? Convincing ourselves life isn’t as bad as we perceive it to be. We can change our lives any time we choose to. Or lie to others “I promise I will ________” “It is up to me how I choose to live!”

As we assert our freedom to live as we please we loose the freedom to choose as we become more and more enslaved in our denial.

Jesus said to the disciples in John 8:31 “You are truly my disciples if you obey my teachings.” He went on to say …. Here’s the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin .

The spiritual forces that sway our lives are rooted in either truth or deceit. Truth leads to freedom and deceit to bondage. Denial is a lie that keeps us in bondage.

In recovery we need to break the cycle of denial. Become brutally honest about our denial. That is the only way we get a chance at real freedom in our lives.
