Stability
We come to recovery for stability.
Deuteronomy 30:2-3 Come back to God, your God, and obey him with your whole heart and soul according to everything that I command you today, [3] God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he’ll have compassion on you; he’ll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered.
God offers this gracious message to His people who were living in defeat:
‘Obey Me and be restored.’
Obeying God is in our best interest: This passage encourages us to obey Him with all our heart and soul, according to His Word. We all need to read God’s Word and pray in recovery in order to know what God is commanding us to do. And to seek His help to achieve it.
The most difficult part of verse 2 is making a conscious decision to start.
Restoration is part of the healing process: In Matthew 8:1-4 we read about a man with Leprosy who came to Jesus and said to Him “Lord” “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”
Jesus response: “Jesus reached out and touched him.” Saying, “I am willing” “Be healed”
Verse 3 tells us if we obey God, Jesus will not only change us but He will also restore, in our character the things we have lost as a result of our addcitions and compulsive lifestyles.
Prayer:
Just for today I am going to obey God with all of my heart and trust Him to restore in me the things I have lost due to my addictions and compulsions.
Living Life Recovery is a safe place where people can come, share and investigate the realities of God’s promises for themselves.
We believe that as we investigate God’s promises for our lives and practice the ‘Spiritual Principles of Recovery’ as outlined in ‘God’s Word’ we will find the strength and freedom we need to live productive and peaceful lives.
We welcome anyone who has a sincere desire to change their lives. To rise above the pain and turmoil caused by dependencies and compulsive behaviors their own lives or the lives of a loved one or friend.
Many of us wallow in our pasts and sink easily into the harbour of such memories. Ask forgiveness for allowing these feelings to overcome what you know is your new reality. This episode is also available as a blog post: https://livingliferecovery.com/2022/04/27/thougtfortoday/
