2015 – Day 7
Psalm 84:5-12 … how blessed all those in whom you live, whose lives become roads you travel; They wind through lonesome valleys, come upon brooks, discover cool springs and pools brimming with rain! God-traveled, these roads curve up the mountain, and at the last turn—Zion! God in full view! God of the Angel Armies, listen: O God of Jacob, open your ears—I’m praying! Look at our shields, glistening in the sun, our faces, shining with your gracious anointing. One day spent in your house, this beautiful place of worship, beats thousands spent on Greek island beaches. I’d rather scrub floors in the house of my God than be honored as a guest in the palace of sin. All sunshine and sovereign is God, generous in gifts and glory. He doesn’t scrimp with his traveling companions. It’s smooth sailing all the way with God of the Angel Armies.
Focus Verse: One day spent in your house, this beautiful place of worship, beats thousands spent on Greek island beaches.
A single day in the presence of God is better than a lifetime separated from Him : The security, peace and love that He offers us are greater than anything we can ever receive from people. We won’t always get what we want in recovery; But when we turn to God for help He will supply everything we need to live this ‘New Life’ with Him.
Exodus 33:11 tells us “God spoke to Moses face-to-face, as neighbors speak to one another,” (another version says “as a man speaks to his friends.”)
Our relationship with God is our most important relationship: Why did Moses find favour with God? Not because he was perfect, gifted or powerful, but because God chose Moses and Moses relied competely on God’s wisdom and direction. Friendship with God was a privilege for Moses. Friendship with God is also a privilege available to each of us. In John 15:15 Jesus refers to His followers as His friends. He is calling us today to trust Him as Moses trusted God. WILL YOU?
Our relationship with God is made possible through Jesus: In John 16:16-33 Jesus is talking to the disciples about going to heaven. He tells them in verse 22-23 ‘the sadness you have right now is similar to a women giving birth. She has a hard time, but when the baby is born her joy wipes away the memory of the pain.’ He goes on to tell them that ‘if you ask in My name, according to My will for anything God will give it to you,’ Because of Jesus we all have direct access to God. Not because of our merit but because Jesus death and resurrection made us acceptable to God.
Prayer: Just for today I will spend time in the presence of God and give Him thanks for sending His Son, Jesus Christ to forgive me, cleanse me and make me acceptable to Him. I will trust God as Moses trusted Him and rely on Him completely
