A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”Matthew 19:5-6
In October this year my wife Karen and I will be married 25 years. On Valentine’s Day we are not into all that romantic rubbish. She said she’d.buy me a chocolate and I said I’d share it with her.
But all jokes aside there is nothing more comforting in life than knowing your spouse is your God-chosen life partner. To know that for better or worse, richer or poorer we are committed to each other 100% and we support each other no matter what happens.
I was reading some stories on marriage this morning and I read this one, which made me laugh.
Sometimes the reason that people hold hands is not what it seems.
Consider the man and wife who won the praises of their friends because they appeared to be so romantic even after 40 years of marriage.
A friend spoke to the husband to try to discover his secret. He said, “I notice you and your wife the other day in the mall. You went into a dress store and you were holding hands. You went into a shoe store and you were holding hands. You went into a jewelry store and you were still holding hands. It’s amazing and so romantic.
Can you tell me the secret to such romance?”
The man said, “It’s not so much romance. But after 40 years of marriage I’ve learned that whenever we go into the dress store, shoe store or jewelry store, if I don’t hold her hand…she shops like crazy!”
Love you Karen! Remind me to hold your hand(s) next time we go shopping.
