2015 – Day 49
“I will certainly bless you, and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.” Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised. Hebrews 6:14-15
Experience: God’s timing is perfect! Ever since the day I began recovery I have wanted to be the best! To know the most, to have all the best quotes, to say things that make people think ‘he knows what he is talking about,’ I want to tell you that’s a lot of pressure to put on yourself. My wife said to me on the weekend as I purchased another book on recovery “How many books on recovery do you need?” And she is right! I have spent the last 29 years studying and reading recovery books, learning how to apply the twelve steps to everyday living. I have shelves full of recovery books, most of which I have read from cover to cover.
Strength: Through all this studying and reading I have spent a lot of time in prayer and meditation. Have come to know, trust and rely on the Holy Spirit on my daily recovery journey. He has taken me places I never dreamed of going. Created opportunities on a daily basis to share my experience, strength and hope with others on the journey. He has been my strength when I felt weakest. My armour when I’ve felt vulnerable and my compass when I have felt lost.
Hope: That for the rest of my life I will seek His leading, be obedient to His call and help others when He directs me to in order for them to stand tall.
