We can overcome powerlessness with God’s help
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses. Acts 1:8

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form.
If you have ever built any metal furniture or art you would be aware powder coating is applied to keep the outside looking good.
Today in my personal devotional time I read this scripture: “Shout! A full-throated shout! Hold nothing back—a trumpet-blast shout! Tell my people what’s wrong with their lives, face my family Jacob with their sins! They’re busy, busy, busy a worship, and love studying all about me. To all appearances they’re a nation of right-living people — law-abiding, God-honouring. They ask me, ‘What’s the right thing to do?’ and love having me on their side. Isaiah 58:1-2
Everyday in life we see people going through the motions. Saying the right things, mixing in the right groups, reading the right curriculum, telling others about how well they are doing – when really they are hurting inside. People keeping the outside looking good!
Recovery is not a game! Addiction is life-threatening, soul destroying and a danger to the health of those caught up in it or in relationship with them. There is one solution to overcoming it successfully and it is personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
When people come to a recovery group or programme for assistance they don’t know what is wrong. One of the best responses I have ever heard expressed to someone who announced in a recovery group “””I don’t need to be here I can fix this on my own.” was “If you could have you would have already but you haven’t so welcome to recovery”
To all the Counsellors, AOD Workers and other professionals working with people with addictions I have one thing to say today: Pay attention to these verses from Isaiah “Shout! A full-throated shout! Hold nothing back—a trumpet-blast shout! Tell my people what’s wrong with their lives.” They have come to you because they can’t fix it on their own. They are putting their faith and trust in you and the process of recovery:

Unless the Lord had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave. 18 I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me.19 When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
Psalm 94:17:19
We can count on no one but God to help us overcome our addictions and compulsions. When we are tempted to relapse He is there keeping us from falling because He is our defender. He does not allow temptation to destroy us beyond hope.
God is involved in our recovery, encouraging us to seek His will for our lives and His power to live as He wants us to.
