“The Lord is in his holy Temple.

Let all the earth be silent before him.”
                   Habakkuk 2:20

It can be hard to define silence. It is paradoxical. It is invisible, yet we are conscious of it. It is intangible, but can be felt. Noiselessness can be deafening.  Silence through voicelessness can be louder than words. ‘Silence can be extremely powerful.’ It is in the silence that life changing situations are resolved, inspiration is stimulated, vital process takes place. In silence roots spread deeply and vigorously, buds open to light, the sun, the moon and the stars fulfill their task.

Silence is called for as a mark of respect in remembrance. God is best acknowledged in humility, worship and silence. Not necessarily for long periods of time, but this kind of exercise means we allow God opportunity to speak to us.

To take time to be quiet. To get along with God. To settle for some silence and rest in his presence is a good habit to practice. It is a valuable means of meditation.

TAKE TIME REGULARLY TO REST, REPAIR AND REGULATE YOUR LIFE…
