“Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you.” Matthew 7:7
We need to learn to talk to God: Openly and honestly if we want to maintain a recovery process that is one of spiritual growth and enjoy a healthy, worthy relationship with our Higher Power. Prayer is basically asking and receiving. God tells us “ You do not have because you do not ask God.” (James 4:2) We need to affirm this in our minds, in order for the attitude to become a habit in our lives. As it does seeking His will for our lives intensifies, knocking in His door intensifies and knowledge of His desire for us intensifies.
We have to ask to receive. Failure to ask means not receiving from Him the resources we need to do all that He wants us to do and enjoy all that He wants us to enjoy. In the process of recovery it is imperative we expect extraordinary things as we grow in our relationship with Him. He did not bring us here to watch us wither. His desire is that we grow to be all He wants us to be in order that we might influence this world and it’s people for His glory.
