Prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. Ephesians 6:18
‘Prayer is not the conquering of God’s reluctance, bit taking hold of His willingness.’
What an encouraging quote! God is waiting on us to call on Him, on us to request His intervention, on us to summon His help.
The access we have to the God of the universe is almost unbelievable. Unfortunately, sometimes we allow our disbelief to divert us from prayer. Prayer is our means of sharing, personally with Him. Not just taking stock, but sharing our deepest, scariest, most shameful secrets with Him. Prayer is our source of repair when we are broken, of spiritual supply when our well runs empty and our down-to earth source of contact with heaven. We can pray anywhere at any time.
In recovery we need to set aside time to keep appointment with God. We need to learn to lift our thoughts and desires to Him. As we reach out and up to Him we will become sensitive to Him reaching down to us. There is elevating power in prayer.
