The God of all grace and mercy is just waiting to be called upon. He is not a reluctant God. He is benevolent and generous. He is patient and long-suffering. He is faithful in waiting our appeal – ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.‘ Jeremiah 33:3
Our requests of God are usually of temporary value: We make emergency calls. He answers and rescues us and we resume doing the godless things we have always done. When we do we insult God, but we also do ourselves and injustice. Instead of allowing Godly correction we decline His help.
Making a convenience of God is not playing games.
Making a convenience of God is a serious matter – it is soul-destroying, a disreputable habit. It is cheating, deceptive and mean. Only by complete surrender to God, and patiently waiting on Him can we change our wrong attitudes.
