Living Life Recovery–Step Three

I am making a decision to let God help me change and commit to
working with Him to do so.

“Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because
of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice
– the kind he will find acceptable”
Romans 12:1

Knowing that I had to change, was unable to change by myself I decide to start learning how God wanted me to live. Prayer became a regular part of my life. I joined a local Bible Study Group (Studying ‘THE NAVIGATORS’ Bible Study Series)

Whilst still on The Salvation Army Bridge Programme in South Australia I started attending every Church Service and Christian Fellowship group I could in order to discover how His people lived different to me.

Luke 9:23-24 says “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”

Knowing that God was God and I wasn’t and I was making a conscious decision to let Him control every area of my life led me to trying to find out and understand everything about Him I could. That decision included, for me, writing a five year plan for my life, making changes that would better equip me to live my life for Jesus. it also included me taking risks, outside of my comfort zone and seeking advice from others when I felt God was instructing me in a certain direction,

The decision included 100% commitment to doing whatever I had to do to stay  sober, live better and include God in my plans, attitudes and actions.
