Luke 9:20 Jesus asked, “And you–what are you saying about me? Who am I?” Peter answered, “The Messiah of God.”
C.S. Lewis one-time agnostic who became a Christian wrote – I am trying to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say “I am ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.”
Jesus claimed to be God. He did not leave any option open. His claim must be either true or false. The vital question this poses for us must be answered. (Luke 9:20) We can’t really know true recovery until we answer this question. Step 2 says I CAME TO BELIEVE IN A POWER GREATER THAN MYSELF. Without answering this question I was with one step ADMITTING I WAS POWERLESS AND MY LIFE WAS UNMANAGEABLE.
John 3:33-35 Anyone who examines this evidence will come to stake his life on this: that God himself is the truth. “The One that God sent speaks God’s words. And don’t think he rations out the Spirit in bits and pieces. The Father loves the Son extravagantly. He turned everything over to him so he could give it away–a lavish distribution of gifts.
