Step 7: WE HUMBLY ASKED GOD TO REMOVE OUR SHORTCOMINGS
Bible Reading: Romans 3:23-26

Tonight at B-Together Recovery we are beginning a four week series on Step 7. This week our topic is ‘Made Right by God’

Looking at Romans 3, verses 23-26 the Holy Spirit highlighted three things to me. They are:

  1. NONE OF US ARE SO GOOD WE DON’T NEED GOD we have all got it wrong.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT GETTING IT WRONG?

Isa 1:16 Go home and wash up. Clean up your act. Sweep your lives clean of your evildoings so I don’t have to look at them any longer. Say no to wrong.

Isa 51:7 “Listen now, you who know right from wrong, you who hold my teaching inside you: Pay no attention to insults, and when mocked don’t let it get you down.

Hos 14:9 If you want to live well, make sure you understand all of this. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll learn this inside and out. GOD’s paths get you where you want to go. Right-living people walk them easily; wrong-living people are always tripping and stumbling.

Joh 9:3 Jesus said, “You’re asking the wrong question. You’re looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do.

  2. WE ARE MADE RIGHT WITH GOD THROUGH FAITH we need to put it right.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT PUTTING IT RIGHT?

Psa 15:2 Walk straight, act right, tell the truth.

Psa 19:8 The life-maps of God are right, showing the way to joy. The directions of God are plain and easy on the eyes.

Pro 4:18 The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine.

Pro 20:5 Knowing what is right is like deep water in the heart; a wise person draws from the well within.

Ecc 8:6 Yes, there’s a right time and way for everything, even though, unfortunately, we miss it for the most part.

Luk 18:14 Jesus said, “If you walk around with your nose in the air, you’re going to end up flat on your face, but if you’re content to be simply yourself, you will become more than yourself.”

  3. NONE OF US ARE SO BAD WE ARE BEYOND GOD’S REACH we need to change.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT OUR NEED TO CHANGE?

Jer 8:5 Why does this people go backwards, and just keep on going–backwards! They stubbornly hold on to their illusions, refuse to change direction.

Psa 55:19 God hears it all, and from his judge’s bench puts them in their place. But, set in their ways, they won’t change; they pay him no mind.

Joel 2:13 Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God, your God. And here’s why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, This most patient God, extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe.

Heb 6:18 God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go.

Mar 1:15 “Time’s up! God’s kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the Message.”
