STEP 3: I am making a decision to let God help me change and commit to working with Him to do so.
Philippians 4:4-7 Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute! Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
We all have a tendency to worry about the things we can do nothing about. instead of focusing on the things God can do. At times like that I like to remember the ‘SERENITY PRAYER’
GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY to ACCEPT the things I can do nothing about
COURAGE to FOCUS on the things I can do something about with Yout help.
AND THE WISDOM to know the difference.
To give God first place in our lives means to turn to Him first, not as a last resort. He can do all things, if we let Him. We need to learn to ask Him daily to fill our thoughts with His desires, to develop in us His character. To show us how to serve and obey Him in every area of our lives.
Right here in Step Three we need to make new priorities and ask ourseleves:
‘What is important to me?’ and
“Am I willing to go to any lengths to get it.”
Recovery is not a walk in the park! It takes real courage and commitment and it means giving God first place in every area of our lives, ALL THE TIME!
