2016, Devotions, March, Recovery, Step 11

2016 – Day 64

Step 11: In order to discover God’s purpose for my life, implement it and to improve my relationship with Him, I will spend time daily in prayer, reading the Bible and meditating on it.

BIBLE READING: 1 Timothy 4:1-10

1 Timothy 4:1 The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on, some are going to give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars.

Relapse in recovery because we listen to bad bad advice or do what is wrong because someone says it’s right happens in recovery.

Todays Bible reading makes it clear daily discipline in this new way of living (God’s way) makes us fit today and forever to face life’s challenges. It also makes it clear that we need to commit completely to living the Twelve Steps and applying them to every area of our lives.

Daily Prayer, Bible Reading and Meditation need to become the ‘norm’ in our daily activities.

The last part of Timothy 4 tells us to ‘keep a firm grip on both our character and teaching.’

Now we are in recovery others are watching us, some waiting to see if we make it, if the changes are temporary as they have been in the past and some hoping, praying and everyday that we will remain faithful to God and the process He has begun in us.
