Step Twelve: Having gone through these steps and discovering the importance of individual relationship with God through Jesus, I will try to live according to His principles and to lead others to personal relationship with Him.
Yesterday I was unable to get to my blog.. but that’s another story for another day, and today I want to talk about stories.
God loves a good story. Jesus ministry was full of Him telling stories to teach His disciples and to teach people about the Kingdom of God. In Mark 4:30 He says “How can we picture God’s kingdom? What kind of story can we use?”
The most powerful tool of ministry any of us has is our own story. You can’t get it wrong, people can’t argue with it, you know all the facts, feelings and frustrations about it., because you lived it. And, people are interested in it, especially if you have a few years of recovery life experiance to back it up. The other good thing about all of our stories is through them we engaged in the life stories of others, people who influenced us in how to live right, people who influenced us in how not to live and people who were just there and had no influence.
The Twelves Steps of Recovery. Are about learning ‘YOUR STORY‘ because most of us when caught up in our addictions and compulsions never really took the time or the effort to know ourselves. The Steps are about ‘GETTING TO KNOW GOD’S STORY‘ They are about developing a personal relationship with Jesus, where He can help us face, accept, acknowldge and share the pain and hurt of our stories we spent so much of our time running a way from.
Step Twelve says “Having gone through these steps and discovering the importance of individual relationship with God through Jesus, I will try to live according to His principles and to lead others to personal relationship with Him.”
The purpose of the Twelve Steps is to learn ‘YOUR STORY‘ and to share it with God, ourselves and others so that God can use you in His service to ‘CARRY THE MESSAGE’ and to live your life as a living example of His grace.
On my facebook page a few days ago I shared a post to which someone replied “YOUR WHAT WE CALL IN THE SALVO’s A TROPHY OF GRACE ARCHIE.” Today I am blessed because God rescued me from my addiction, placed me in the right place to recieve His healing and introduced me to the right people to help me to get to know Him, to turn my will and my life over to Him and to live my life ‘FOLLOWING JESUS’ My daily prayer is that God will use me to influence the lives of others to make that same choice in their lives.
YOU ONLY HAVE ONE STORY YOU KNOW PERFECTLY – START SHARING IT
