Isaiah 61 1-3 The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me because God anointed me. He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken,Announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners.God sent me to announce the year of his grace—a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies— and to comfort all who mourn,
To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness” planted by God to display his glory.
Recovery, healing and freedom are found in Jesus. They bring us clarity, joy and peace, and prepare us for service. As we mature spiritually in the process we become aware of ‘The Mission’ , which is to “Carry the message”
Sharing our experience, strength and hope is part of our mission. In John 20:21 Jesus says “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” Helping others discover and understand the process of recovery is our responsibility.
Suffering people are our mission. Romans 1:18-20 tells us God shows his anger against sinful, evil people who push away the truth and He puts His knowledge of the truth in our hearts. He calls on us to convince those still caught up in sin of the consequences of their sin and calls us to show them the way to salvation and walk it with them.
