Step Six: After discovering my sinful habits and attitudes and confessing them, I am now willing to let God change me.
Romans 12:2 Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.
The battle for our mind goes on. What we think, what we allow to filter into or fill our minds and what controls our minds are what we will become. Choosing to change our thinking can bring opposition. A battle can rage within us and can tempt us to return to the status quo of the past, to pander to the worlds ways; to bargain with lower stadards of morality abd spiritual mediocrity.
When we choose to make a decision to let God help us change our characters and commit to working with Him to do so God’s Word becomes our first and final authority. The best thing any of us can do in recovery is to allow the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to be our guide and our strength.
Our minds need daily renewal of our decision to let God lead. They need daily cleansing through daily inventory taking in order to stop theM becoming cluttered with ungodly thoughts fed to us by the world and it’s ways.
Psalms 119:9 says “How can a young person live a pure life? By obeying your word.”
