The Bible says in Galatians 5:22-23 The fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful
and gentle and having control of oneself. There is no law against things of that kind.
The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the spontaneous work of the Holy Spirit in us. Sometimes as we grow in the process of recovery we can feel like we have lost some of that Holy Spirit spontaneity that we had in early recovery.
Keeping spontaneity alive requires us joining our lives more and more with the Holy Spirit : John 15:4-5 Remain joined to me, and I will remain joined to you. No branch can bear fruit by itself. It must remain joined to the vine. In the same way, you can’t bear fruit unless you remain joined to me. “I am the vine. You are the branches. If anyone remains joined to me, and I to him, he will bear a lot of fruit. You can’t do anything without me.
– Keeping spontaneity alive requires us knowing Him more and more.
– Keeping spontaneity alive requires us loving Him more and more.
– Keeping spontaneity alive requires us remembering Him more and more.
– Keeping spontaneity alive requires us imitating Him more and more.
Recovery is a spiritual growth process of progress in which we need to develop more and more Christ like qualities in our lives daily to achieve God’s will for our lives through continual interaction with the Holy Spirit.
