  Welcome to August

Step Eight:- As part of the process of change, I will identify and record everyone
I have harmed and through prayer become willing to make restitution to them.

Deuteronomy 15:9 Don’t count the cost. Don’t listen to that selfish voice saying, “It’s almost the seventh year, the year of All-Debts-Are-Canceled,” and turn aside and leave your needy neighbor in the lurch, refusing to help him. He’ll call God’s attention to you and your blatant sin.

Step eight is about mending broken relationships and taking responsibility to do whatever we need to do to set things right with our past failures and mistakes. If we are serious about recovery and spiritual growth we will not make excuses for failing to do this step to the best of our ability.

Making a list is to identify what you did wrong and who you did it to. It is not about identifying what other people did wrong and persecuting them for it.

There is one area of my life in which I am totally selfish and I am not ashamed about it. It is in the area of my recovery. It comes before everything else, because without it nothing else matters. I know the Church emphasizes God before everything. Putting recovery first in my life does not diminish the position of God in the process, it strengthens it.

If you take God out of the Twelve Steps of recovery you are left with the first setp and nowhere to go.
