Recovery Devotion #179, 2017
John 12:44-46 Jesus summed it all up when he cried out, “Whoever believes in me, believes not just in me but in the One who sent me. Whoever looks at me is looking, in fact, at the One who sent me. I am Light that has come into the world so that all who believe in me won’t have to stay any longer in the dark.
People say all the time “I believe in God” I did, all my life. But the truth has I never worshipped Him as my God, never seen Him as my One True Higher Power. I the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous it says “we thought we could find an easier, softer way.” For many of us that is avoiding the reality of God (the God of the Bible)
Through experience, I tell you there is only one God and His name is Jesus Christ. Failing to accept Him, believe in Him and commit to Him will stunt your spiritual growth in the recovery process.
