Ask God For Strength

Psalms 105:4 Look to the Lord and to his strength. Always look to him.

In recovery, we need to seek God’s strength to do those things we cannot do in our own strength.

Our own strength is actually a point of spiritual vulnerability. There are times in our lives when we are vulnerable because of our strengths, not our weaknesses. In Luke 4:3 we read “The devil said to him [Jesus], If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” Jesus had the power to tell the stone to become bread. The devil wanted Him to use His power outside of what God’s mission for His life. The devil can also tempt us to use our new found lifestyle for the wrong things. Avoiding the temptation to go our own way because we are feeling better is a trap we need to be aware of.

– Are there things in your life you are tempted to do you know you shouldn’t do?

Prayer: Lord help me to depend on You and not on myself.
