Have you ever sat in a recovery meeting (or somewhere else) and thought to yourself, “this is boring, wish I was somewhere else.”
There is a verse in the Bible that says “As I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless–like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.” Ecclesiastes 2:11
Boredom is a result of self-centeredness. The next time you think ‘this is boring’ think of the ‘Big Picture’ Why are you in recovery? Is your goal just to stop using? or is it to change your life and be a better you?
Boredom is a result of having the wrong priorities. Our heart gets restless and bored if our focus is on the wrong priorities. Sometimes boredom is good prompter to highlight to us we need to set different priorities than we already have.
Galatians 3:5 Asks the question “Does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you?” An interesting question that raises another question. “If recovery meetings helped your spiritual growth in the past, what has changed now to bore you?”
