Hebrews 7:25 People now come to God through Him. And He is able to save them completely and for all time. Jesus lives forever. He prays for them.
There is is one way to living, growing, lasting recovery and that is through personal relationship with Jesus.
How do I know that? Because I have tried recovery without Him and tried recovery with Him. My personal experience of both confirmed to me He is the only way to productive, progressive, life-changing recovery.
There were many things from my past I didn’t want to face up to. Was incapable in my own strength to face up to or do anything about. There were many bad habits in me that I was comfortable with. Jesus made me uncomfortable with them, showed me a new way of living a life in recovery. And, he helped me to face up to my character defects and bad habits and do something about them.
Recovery is not an easy process. Anyone who says it is isn’t doing it right! But recovery is a necessary process, a worthwhile process and a life-changing process if you put your faith in Him.
Prayer Today Lord I know recovery is not an easy process but a worthwhile on. Help me to keep moving forward in the process and put my faith and trust firmly in You.
Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute. Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you. Live in such a way that you are a credit to the Message of Christ. Let nothing in your conduct hang on whether I come or not. Your conduct must be the same whether I show up to see things for myself or hear of it from a distance. Stand united, singular in vision, contending for people’s trust in the Message, the good news. Stay on track, steady in God.
1 Corinthians 16:13 ~ Galatians 5:1 ~ Philippians 1:27 ~ Philippians 4:1
It’s paramount that you keep the commandments of God, your God, walk down the roads he shows you and reverently respect him. Deuteronomy 8:6
Proverbs 11:2-3 The stuck-up fall flat on their faces, but down-to-earth people stand firm. The integrity of the honest keeps them on track; the deviousness of crooks brings them to ruin.
Today as we prepare for Step Three I want to tell you about how “I made a decision to let God help me change and committed to working with Him to do so”
After the prayer alone in my room, the rehab had a guest speaker come to conduct ‘Chapel’ During that meeting an invitation was given to make Jesus your Higher Power. Without intention, I responded.
Finding myself at the front of the Chapel I knew I was emotionally, physically and spiritually bankrupt and I knelt to pray. When I stood up after prayer I physically felt the power of The Holy Spirit enter my body, go through my body and I knew I was changed.
From that day to this day Jesus Christ is my Higher Power and for that I am thankful. Is
Prayer Thank You, Jesus. Today help me to depend on Your power not my own
I. Listening to God is the first step in obeying Him.
Moses called all Israel together. He said to them, Attention, Israel. Listen obediently to the rules and regulations I am delivering to your listening ears today. Learn them. Live them. Deuteronomy 5:1
II. Listening to God is training in humility.
After the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper. When Elijah heard the quiet voice, he muffled his face with his great cloak, went to the mouth of the cave, and stood there. A quiet voice asked, “So Elijah, now tell me, what are you doing here?” 1 Kings 19:12-13
III. Spiritual listening allows us to learn from others.
Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God’s righteousness doesn’t grow from human anger. James 1:19-20
IV. Spiritual listening is always followed up by action.
It is important to listen to what God’s Word says, but it’s much more important to obey it and do what it says. Are you putting into action what you have learned in recovery?
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO LISTEN, FOR THEY SHALL LEARN
