#39-Jesus Died for Me

Galatians 1:4 Jesus gave his life for our sins. He set us free from this evil world. That was what our God and Father wanted.

Growing up I had some pretty hard mates, so did my younger brother. I remember one of my brothers’ mates who had a tattoo of Jesus on the cross upside down and a slogan that said: “Jesus died for His own sake, not mine.” At the time I thought it was one of the best tattoos I had ever seen in my life. Thinking about it now makes me cringe.

We live in an evil world. Where a lot of the people have the same attitude as my brothers’ mate. That was my attitude when I came into recovery.

It’s not my attitude now. I have spent many years of my life living in relationship with the Holy Spirit, reading God’s Word and meditating on it and changing my character to mirror His.

Recovery is a long process of spiritual growth.

  • Do you believe Jesus died for your sins?

line

God limits what evil spirits can do; they can do nothing without His permission. “What business do you have here with us, Jesus? Nazarene! I know what you’re up to! You’re the Holy One of God, and you’ve come to destroy us!”  Mark 1:24

Jesus demonstrated His human nature by dying for us. We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost. We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him, on him. Isaiah 53:6

Jesus demonstrated His divinity by His resurrection. “Don’t be afraid. I know you’re looking for Jesus the Nazarene, the One they nailed on the cross. He’s been raised up; he’s here no longer. You can see for yourselves that the place is empty. Mark 16

  • He kept His promise to rise from the dead and we can believe His promises to us.
  • His resurrection identifies Him as the One True Higher Power.

1 Corinthians 15:12-19 Let me ask you something profound yet troubling. If you became believers because you trusted the proclamation that Christ is alive, risen from the dead, how can you let people say that there is no such thing as a resurrection? If there’s no resurrection, there’s no living Christ. And face it–if there’s no resurrection for Christ, everything we’ve told you is smoke and mirrors, and everything you’ve staked your life on is smoke and mirrors. Not only that, but we would be guilty of telling a string of barefaced lies about God, all these affidavits we passed on to you verifying that God raised up Christ–sheer fabrications if there’s no resurrection. If corpses can’t be raised, then Christ wasn’t, because he was indeed dead. And if Christ wasn’t raised, then all you’re doing is wandering about in the dark, as lost as ever. It’s even worse for those who died hoping in Christ and resurrection because they’re already in their graves. If all we get out of Christ is a little inspiration for a few short years, we’re a pretty sorry lot.

I serve a risen Saviour. who has conquered the world  Jesus said: John 16:33 “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world, you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”
