What Does The Bible Teach Us about Commitment

Status

  • OUR COMMITMENT MUST BE COMPLETE
    Matthew 8:22
Jesus said to him, “Follow Me and let the dead bury their own dead.”
  • OUR COMMITMENT MUST BE CONSISTENT
    Joshua 24:15
If serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
  • LIFE COMMITMENTS SHOULD LAST A LIFETIME
Psalms 37:5 Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust Him, and He will help you.

As we commit our wills and lives to God, we can expect to face obstacles, but we can expect to overcome them with God’s help.

Romans 12:6-8 In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
