I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.
Paul’s words sum up how we all struggle. We are all in the same boat and we all need recovery. Living lives that to not align with God’s way of living affects our minds and subconscious. We condition ourselves not to take the blame for our bad choices and not to take responsibility for the damage they caused. We take the line of least resistance and resign ourselves to the fact ‘that’s just how it is and it will never change.’
Romans 7:24-25 “What a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.”
Feed your faith on the encouragement of verse 24 ‘Thank God! Jesus is the answer’ With a flow of continual liberating power, through dependence of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit let your mind and heart be filled with His promises. RECOVERY is very much allowing God His way in dealing with our lives and growing to like the manner in which He invests in us an appetite for spiritual enrichment.
Prayer Lord continue to help me to move away from my old paths and practices. Teach me to rely on the fact “Jesus is the answer.” and through Him I will overcome!
