The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me because God anointed me. He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, Announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners. God sent me to announce the year of his grace– a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies– and to comfort all who mourn, To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness” planted by God to display his glory. Isaiah 61:1-3
It’s not easy to dismantle somebody who is stained. broken. discolored by life’s ailments and problems. Charitable organizations have tried for years to transfer such people into better environments. Unfortunately, it is not until a person really wants to experience life away from their poor choices and bad circumstances that progress can be made. Life’s problems can be a means of downward, deteriorating and disastrous outcomes. When a person decides ‘Enough!’ and are willing to go to any length to change their lives and overcome their problems it is something to watch and experience.
God is calling us, in the process of recovery to ‘Be different and make a difference’ in this world. He is calling us to be the lights and the examples to those who have made the all-important choice to change their lives and to share with them ‘Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit.’
What a privilege is ours to be His hands and feet here in this wonderful process called LIVING LIFE RECOVERY.
