Day of Waiting
The religious leaders had manipulated the Roman Governor to condemn an innocent man who was a threat to the religious status quo and the Pharisee Temple Corporation. Dozens of witnesses saw Jesus’ body lowered to the ground, placed in a grave carved in the rock, sealed by a large stone, and now guarded by an elite squad of Roman soldiers. The religious leaders had to be very pleased with how quickly they had removed the trouble-maker from their midst.
Jesus’ tomb became God’s workshop to undo the tragedy that had taken place in the Garden of Eden. He kept his promise spoken hundreds of years earlier. It was God’s will that his Son dies and lay in the grave to cover our sins.
Separated from his Father on our behalf, Jesus willingly carried out his assignment, meeting sin and death alone. Allow Jesus’ blood to cleanse you. Rejoice that death has no more power over you.
Lord, what a stressful day of waiting for your disciples. With hope and expectancy, I await the morning light of your resurrection. I know the planet will rumble when daybreak arrives. Amen
“I’m still your God, the God who saved you out of Egypt. I’m the only real God you’ve ever known. I’m the one and only God who delivers.” Hosea 13:4
