His Quiet Whisper

During powerful prayer and devotion time, the enemy might begin to bang loudly on your door. God’s giving you an opportunity to focus, increase your endurance, and grow in your faith. Remember, your recovery into freedom is a marathon, not a sprint. When your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

Tests and trials are for you to stay where God has placed you—to run a bit longer without getting winded. When God’s love breaks through, you hear his still, quiet whisper. Powerful winds blow you off course, earthquakes tear apart the ground around you, and a raging fire burns so close; yet, the Lord was not in any of those. After the wind, earthquake, and fire came a gentle whisper—God’s voice.
Searching for God in only big places might cause you to miss your intimate moments with him—when his whisper comes in the quietness of a humbled heart.

Lord, I’m so grateful to leave my mess and climb into your lap to rest. I pray for grace to hear when you knock, and to open the door to welcome you in. Amen.
