“When You sit on Your glorious throne, we want to sit in places of honor next to You, one on Your right and the other on Your left.” Mark 10:37
The disciples missed the point. They thought Jesus would establish an earthly kingdom hat would free Israel from Romes oppression. God’s Kingdom is not of this world. It is not palace and throne centred but is in the hearts of all who believe in Him and follow Him.
Jesus tells us to pray “Thy Kingdom come” on earth as it is in heaven. This is a reference to God’s spiritual reign. Luke 17:21 says “The kingdom of God is within you.” That says to me ‘The Kingdom of God’ is my most valuable possession, that lives in my heart and I need to look after. It also tells me that I (and you) can live as citizens of heaven right here, right now. It requires me to put Jesus in His rightful place in my life (Lord and Saviour)It requires me to discover His purpose for my life and put all my efforts into achieving it. It requires me ‘Loving Others’ because they are important to God.
