Matthew 6:6 “Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.”
‘Find a quiet secluded place’ Shut out the world. Unlock the door to God by separating yourself from every other thing. This paradox must work for us to know the secret of Gods will for our lives. Father-child relationship. A call to dwell in ‘the secret place’ of intimate relationship attained only through intimate response to His invitation. A place of shelter and sanctuary shut in with God.
You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, Say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right–he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you– under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing–not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day. Psalms 91:1-5
Two things we must do:
- Find a secluded place
- Open the door to God
Three things will result”
- A secret spontaneity – like a spark within
- A secret supply – like a spring gushing within
- A secret satisfaction – a wonderful Saviour living within
All of us become in His presence become an open secret which cannot contain but an overflow of witness to His most meaningful delight.
