He went down and immersed himself in the Jordan seven times, following the orders of the Holy Man. His skin was healed; it was like the skin of a little baby. He was as good as new. 2 Kings 5:14
Naaman had a skin disease, probably leprosy. early stages of leprosy only his family, servants and closest friends were aware of. When challenged by the holy man of God to bathe in the uninviting river Jordan stubbornness prevented him from doing so. But persuaded by his advisors he dipped seven times as commanded and although humiliated, nothing short of a miracle occurred. He was cleaned and made healthy.
It is only through full commitment to God and commitment to His ways we achieve complete recovery. Are we free from resentment, bitterness, anger, selfishness? The Holy Spirit will probe and with x-ray, revelation shows us the lingering problems and attitudes that still exist in our character. Daily we need to look at the mirror-glass of God’s word for a check-up so we can face up to ourselves in the light of what He shows us and wants to do in and through our lives.
If our unwilling spirit refuses to humbly yield to God’s unshackling process of recovery, then we will continue to be tormented and it will be reflected in how we live our lives.
