God’s plan for the world stands up, all his designs are made to last. Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed. Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word. We know the meaning of those words because Jesus Christ rescued us from this evil world we’re in by offering himself as a sacrifice for our sins. God’s plan is that we all experience that rescue.
Psalms 33:11 ~ Proverbs 15:22 ~ Proverbs 16:1 ~ Galatians 1:4
I believe that people fail in the process of recovery because they don’t plan not too. When someone goes into a rehab, joins a recovery group, goes to Church it is a protected environment. We go, we listen, we learn but fail to plan what we are going to do at the end of the rehab time when we go home from the recovery group when Church is finished and the enemy understands that. Presenting temptations he knows we cannot ignore or overcome is his way of pulling us back into our old ways of thinking and acting.
God has a plan, designed to last. An important part of that plan is through us building up supports that will help us overcome temptation when it presents. His plans are different from our plans and the way for us to discover them and put them into practice is through a relationship with Him and with others in recovery. He sent His Son as a sin offering for our sins so we can experience the rescue that comes from learning and applying the principles of recovery to our lives
