Genesis 3:8 The man and his wife heard the Lord God walking in the garden. It was the coolest time of the day. They hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Voices everywhere: many are meaningful. The right voice can save us, but the wrong voice can destroy us. Every human voice has its own identity and significance “…… so many kinds of voices in the world, and no kind is without signification.” 1 Corinthians 14:10 Some voices seem to hammer on our ears, with such volume and intensity we find them intolerable and wish they were drowned out.
Adam and Eve gave more value to the voice of the devil than to the voice of God, committing all of us to the same mistake. There is no one who has not at times given preference to the voice of Satan. Thousands of voices seek our attention with their priorities. The voice of the enemy of our souls maybe backing their appeal.
When we make a conscious choice in recovery to ‘Turn our wills and lives over to God.’ we break-away from being tuned to the devil. We affirm Exodus 19:8 “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” Jesus said “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. “John 5:24 It is inconceivable that if we want to hear the voice of God, He will not speak.
The world’s bombardment of our minds can shut out a ‘still small voice.’ Confusion can mystify us. But when we fix our attention firmly to hear what God is saying to our spirits, He will not be silent. Hebrews 12:25 “See that you do not refuse Him who speaks.”
