Luke 18:10-14 “Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee, the other a tax man. The Pharisee posed and prayed like this: ‘Oh, God, I thank you that I am not like other people–robbers, crooks, adulterers, or, heaven forbid, like this tax man. I fast twice a week and tithe on all my income.’ “Meanwhile the tax man, slumped in the shadows, his face in his hands, not daring to look up, said, ‘God, give mercy. Forgive me, a sinner.'” Jesus commented, “This tax man, not the other, went home made right with God. If you walk around with your nose in the air, you’re going to end up flat on your face, but if you’re content to be simply yourself, you will become more than yourself.”
Romans 2:4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that His kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face; a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day. First, you learn humility, then you experience glory. Humility is a precursor to honor. The payoff for meekness and Fear-of-God is plenty and honor and a satisfying life.
I have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that came to me. In the same way ….. all of you, serve each other in humility, for “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.”

STEP SEVEN: Through acknowledgment of God’s supreme power,
I humbly ask Him to help me change my sinful habits and attitudes.
I HUMBLY ASK HIM TO HELP ME CHANGE
The disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Jesus called a little child to Him and put the child among them. Then He said, “I tell you the truth unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 18:1-4
- The world tells us to grow up and stop acting like children. Jesus tells us to become like little children and put our faith and trust in Him.
- What does it mean to “becomes as humble as this little child”
