Who Shall I Release?

Matthew 27:21  When the governor asked again, “Which of these two shall I release to you?” the crowd shouted back their reply: “Barabbas!”

The Jews took Jesus to Pontious Pilate for trial. Really? It was Pilate who was on trial and the Romans and the Jews. Without having to go to court and face a jury each of us is ‘on trial’

Strangely enough, the question raised by Pilate is still relevant today. It is a case of who or what we decide to release from HOLDING IS CAPTIVE. It is in our hands to send marching those who oppress us, work against us, enslave us and sometimes make money of us.

John 10:10 says “The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.”  John 8:44 says “You are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and a hater of truth—there is not an iota of truth in him. When he lies, it is perfectly normal; for he is the father of liars.”

It is within our willpower to delegate Satan to the defeat he is already under from the victorious Christ. We can give him his marching orders by allowing Jesus to capture us and bringing us into the encirclement of love, a unique captivity by our consent.

The choice is ours! We can either release Satan and His hold on our lives or, release Jesus to be our ‘One True Higher Power.” The choice is ours!
