Building up others and being encouraged by others is one of the most important processes of recovery.
Most of us have spent our lives being put down by other people. We understand how it feels and what it does to our character. That is why we need to work hard at building up each other.
If people hadn’t encouraged me in my recovery I don’t believe I would be where I am today. None of us has all the answers. The Bible says in 1 John 4:20 “Anyone who says he loves God but in fact hates his brother or sister is a liar. He doesn’t love his brother or sister, whom he has seen. So he can’t love God, whom he has not seen.” If we say we are serious about recovery and can’t let go of our resentments we are kidding ourselves.
