When People You Love Struggle With Addiction — The Devotional Guy™

Quote

As a recovering addict, it’s hard to see people I love struggle with addiction. I can certainly relate to having habits that are hard to break. In Trouble? Turn to Jesus!

MAYBE THE LORD LETS SOME PEOPLE GET INTO TROUBLE
BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY TIME THEY WILL EVER THINK OF HIM

Jesus said
John 16:33
Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Job Said
Job 3:26I have no peace, no quietness. I have no rest; only trouble comes.”
Job 42:2  “I know that you can do anything and that no one can stop you.

Job 42:12-13 says “The Lord blessed Job at the end of his life more than at the beginning. For now he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 teams of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.God also gave him seven more sons and three more daughters.”

Trouble chases sinners. The trouble they make for others backfires on them. The violence they plan falls on their own heads but God’s Word says “There is a time and a way for everything, even when a person is in trouble.”

Proverbs 13:21 ~ Psalm 7:16 ~ Ecclesiastes 13:21

Why Recovery

Knowing About God Is Not The Same As Knowing God

Status

1 Corinthians 8:3 We never really know enough until we recognize that God alone knows it all.

Knowing that God loves us is a good place to start the recovery process. Our pasts filled with bad choices, wrong decsions and broken realtionships can begin to heal when we accept how much He loves us and has already done for us so we can become ‘New Creations.’

New Creation

Love the Triune God

1 Corinthians 8:3 Those who love God are known by God.

Most of us appreciate good character qualities in others. We appreciate people who are wise, powerful, kind and generous. God puts a higher priority on knowing Him personally and living right than He does just on good character qualities.

Knowing God is about continuous, personal, intimate relationship with Him through the saving grace of Jesus and daily interaction with the Holy Spirit. Knowing God is about knowing the triune God who is there to help us every day in every area of our lives.
