Matthew 26:69 Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl came over and said to him, “You were one of those with Jesus the Galilean.”
Why are some of us ashamed of being in recovery? Like Peter if someone asks us where we are going to when we are heading to a recovery meeting do we tell lies and deny it. Do we think people didn’t know about our addictions and compulsions? Do we believe they can’t see the difference in how we are living now?
When questioned about our recovery is we try to hide the facts it could lead to our downfall. I can’t stress enough the importance of continually checking on ourselves, including how we react to others who may not be as positive about the recovery process as we are.
- If someone questioned you about why you attend recovery meetings would you be able to give them an honest answer?
