Philemon 1:1-3 I, Paul, am a prisoner for the sake of Christ, here with my brother Timothy. I write this letter to you, Philemon, my good friend and companion in this work– also to our sister Apphia, to Archippus, a real trooper, and to the church that meets in your house. God’s best to you! Christ’s blessings on you!
Day: 6 October 2018
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who are hungry and thirsty for what is right. They will be filled.
Step Eleven says “In order to discover God’s purpose for my life, implement it and to improve my relationship with Him, I will spend time daily in prayer, reading the Bible and meditating on it.”
I am hungry to discover God’s purpose for my life. Because of that I am going to apply all the principles of recovery to my life so I can be best equipped to do what God wants when I discover what it is.
I am thirsty to taste this new way of living and experience all it has to offer me. I recently heard a sermon titles Ready-Set-Go. The speaker said the SET is all about being READY for what God had in store for us. That’s how I see step eleven – getting ready!
- How prepared are you for what God has in store for you?
Don’t worry! You are more valuable to him than many sparrows. “If anyone publicly acknowledges me as his friend, I will openly acknowledge him as my friend before my Father in heaven. But if anyone publicly denies me, I will openly deny him before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:31-33
John 4:13-14 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst–not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.”
I’m thirsty for God-alive. I wonder, “Will I ever make it– arrive and drink in God’s presence?” Half-starved and parched with thirst, staggering and stumbling, on the brink of exhaustion.
Seek God while he’s here to be found, pray to him while he’s close at hand. “You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.
Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever.”
Our Scriptures tell us that if you see your enemy hungry, go buy that person lunch, or if he’s thirsty, get him a drink. Your generosity will surprise him with goodness. Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good.
