#2060 Recovery Requires Commitment
James 2:10 The person who keeps every law of God but makes one little slip is just as guilty as the person who has broken every law there is.
James 2:10 The person who keeps every law of God but makes one little slip is just as guilty as the person who has broken every law there is.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who are hungry and thirsty for what is right. They will be filled.
God wants us to do what is right always. His word is our road map to doing the right things in our thoughts, in our behaviours and in life in general. If you are struggling with a decision, a choice or a direction to go in your life take time to pray about it and read what God’s Word says about it before you act.
I used to work with a guy who used to say “It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.” For some of us that is how we have lived our lives. Doing what we want to do and dealing with whatever consequences followed.
The Bible says in Galatians 6:9 “Let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.”
It is easy to do the right thing when everything appears to be working out the way we expect it to, but not so easy whentimes get tough or God doesn’t act the way we think He should.
It is important in the recovery process we learn to take responsibility for ourselves. Realise their a consequences to everything we do. It needs to be clear to us in this new way of living God holds us accountablenfor everything we do say and think. So we need to learn His will for our lives and seek His power to carry it out.
Ecclesiastes 5:2 says “Don’t shoot off your mouth, or speak before you think. Don’t be too quick to tell God what you think he wants to hear. God’s in charge , not you–the less you speak, the better.”
In an effort to ‘Keep Moving Forward.’ we nned to learn the power of the A.A. slogan ‘THINK! THINK! THINK!’ I don’t know about you but moset of the problems in my life are a reult of acting and reacting on feelings before I take the time to think about the consequences of things.
In Hosea 13:6 God says “I took care of you, took care of all your needs, gave you everything you needed. You were spoiled. You thought you didn’t need me. You forgot me.”
When it comes to ‘Moving Forward’ we need to remember “God’s in charge” He cares about us qnad we need to not get so far ahead of Him we forget where we came from, what He has done and is doing foward and if we could have made it on our own we already would have.
THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!
